The Crew and the Boat

When you have the wind that guides you, it makes no difference, the means and the end merge in the heady adventure of the journey.

Enrico Maccaferri

IKO certified Kitesurf instructor

Despite Enrico is a mountain skier and a fresh snow lover, he is also a passionate sailor and kitesurfer.

His first family cruise on a sailing boat dates back to when he was 8 months old; since then he has spent every summer on a boat.
Since he turned 7, he has taken part in short and medium distance sailing trips (100 to 600 miles), very often in doubles with his father Andrea.

While studying for his diploma at the Nautical Institute in Venice, he took part in -regattas in dinghies (Optimist, FEVA with result 3 Italian champion and 420).

He also took part in the High Adriatic Italian offshore championship in doubles aboard a x37 (races from 100 to 500 miles) in doubles, finishing in second place.

Enrico has been on board MSC Container as a trainee deck officer covering mainly northern European routes and to China.

He has often sailed between Turkey, Greece (in particular the Cycladic archipelago, the Peloponnese, the Sporades), Croatia and Sicily. He has now moved the boat to Sardinia, making base at the Port of Cagliari.

Among Enrico’s most memorable journeys, he remembers the transfer from Ravenna to Antigua (Caribbean) in a double with his father Andrea.

In Antigua he took part in the Classic Antigua Sealing Yacht race (of the Panerai Circuit), on board William Fife’s Mariella, then he supervised the transfer of a vintage boat, William Fife’s Caniere, from Antigua to the Main via Bermuda.
